I'm Jefferson. But you can call me Jeff. I'm a Jefferson Salamander and I live in the Escarpment. It's a really great place. You should come see it. But for now, I can give you a tour right here. Simply browse this site.
Every year, thousands of visitors come through the Escarpment to hike, bike, picnic, canoe, camp or just hang out. You can see many of their stories and photos by clicking on Share the Escarpment Experience. You can even share your own story with others.
Many animals live together in the Escarpment. I'm small, but I have an important place in this ecosystem. I'm what's called an indicator species. If there's trouble in our habitat, I give a warning. When visiting, please take care of our home. Learn more now. Visit Conservation & Sustainability or click the salamander in the corner.
Throughout your tour of this website, I'll be popping up to give you some suggestions and navigation tips. I'll also share some interesting little facts with you about a fascinating little creature called the Jefferson Salamander.
